1. A. The Division shall establish a work release program for an eligible inmate who can safely be allowed to enter the community unescorted with minimum risk to public safety.

2. B. Work release is a privilege which may be granted to an eligible inmate in order to:

   1. (1) Provide an inmate with the opportunity to demonstrate the ability to function in the community in preparation for eventual release;
   2. (2) Complement the educational and vocational training obtained within the Division;

   3. (3) Enable the inmate to meet the following types of financial obligations:

      1. (a) Room,
      2. (b) Board,
      3. (c) Transportation costs,
      4. (d) Clothing,
      5. (e) Support payments for dependents, and
      6. (f) Victim restitution;
   4. (4) Provide an inmate with the opportunity to gain work experience and develop positive work habits;
   5. (5) Enable an inmate to attend school.
