A withdrawal management service is one that:

1. A. May be provided at one or more of the following ASAM levels:

   1. (1) Level 1-WM, ambulatory withdrawal management without extended on-site monitoring;
   2. (2) Level 2-WM, ambulatory withdrawal management with extended on-site monitoring;
   3. (3) Level 3.2-WM, clinically-managed residential withdrawal management; or
   4. (4) Level 3.7-WM, medically-monitored residential withdrawal management;
2. B. Monitors the decreasing amount of psychoactive substances in the body;
3. C. Manages the withdrawal symptoms;
4. D. Motivates the individual to participate in appropriate treatment programs for alcohol or other drug dependence;
5. E. Provides additional referrals as necessary; and

6. F. At Level I-WM, Level 2-WM, and Level 3.7-WM, employs a physician, nurse practitioner, or physician assistant who:

   1. (1) Obtains a comprehensive medical history and physical examination of the patient at admission; and
   2. (2) Medically monitors each patient.
