1. A. In this chapter, the following terms have the meanings indicated.

2. B. Terms Defined.

   1. (1) “Acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS)” means the medical condition caused by the human immunodeficiency virus.
   2. (2) “Department” means the Maryland Department of Health.
   3. (3) “Fund” means the Maryland AIDS Assistance Program Fund.
   4. (4) “Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)” means the virus that causes AIDS.
   5. (5) “Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program (RWHAP)” means the federal HIV/AIDS initiative administered by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), HIV/AIDS Bureau (HAB).
