1. A. A home inspector shall visually inspect accessible:

   1. (1) Installed heating equipment;
   2. (2) Vent systems, flues, and chimneys; and
   3. (3) Heat Sources.

2. B. A home inspector shall describe:

   1. (1) The type of system;
   2. (2) Energy sources; and
   3. (3) Heating methods by distinguishing characteristics and means of distribution.
3. C. A home inspector shall operate the heating system using normal operating controls, including emergency or auxiliary modes, if applicable.

4. D. A home inspector is not required to:

   1. (1) Inspect:

      1. (a) Flue or chimney interiors that are not readily accessible;
      2. (b) Heat exchangers;
      3. (c) Humidifiers or dehumidifiers;
      4. (d) Electronic air filters; or
      5. (e) Solar space heating systems; or
   2. (2) Determine the adequacy of the heat system or the distribution balance.
