1. (a) A municipality may adopt regulations regarding the erection of buildings and signs in the municipality, including:

   1. (1) a building code; and
   2. (2) requirements for building permits.

2. (b) A municipality may provide for the inspection of and require repairs to the following on private property:

   1. (1) drainage and sewage systems;
   2. (2) electric lines and wires;
   3. (3) gas pipes;
   4. (4) plumbing apparatus; and
   5. (5) water pipes.
