1. (a) In this subtitle the following words have the meanings indicated.
2. (b) “Down syndrome” means a chromosomal condition caused by an error in cell division that results in the presence of an extra whole or partial copy of chromosome 21.

3. (c)

   1. (1) “Health care facility” means a facility or an office where health or medical care is provided to patients by a health care provider.
   2. (2) “Health care facility” includes a hospital and a limited service hospital.

4. (d)

   1. (1) “Health care provider” means a person who is licensed, certified, or otherwise authorized under the Health Occupations Article to provide health or medical care in the ordinary course of business or practice of a profession.
   2. (2) “Health care provider” includes a genetic counselor.
5. (e) “Hospital” has the meaning stated in § 19-301 of this article.
6. (f) “Limited service hospital” has the meaning stated in § 19-301 of this article.
