1. (a)

   1. (1) Except as provided in paragraph (2) of this subsection, this subtitle applies to all mineral interests.

   2. (2) This subtitle does not apply to a mineral interest:

      1. (i) Held by the United States or a Native American tribe, except to the extent permitted by federal law; or
      2. (ii) Held by the State or an agency or political subdivision of the State, except to the extent permitted by State law.
2. (b) The purpose of this subtitle is to make uniform the law governing dormant mineral interests among the states.
3. (c) This subtitle does not limit or affect any other procedure provided by law for clearing an abandoned mineral interest from title to real property.
4. (d) This subtitle does not limit or affect water rights.
