1. (a) On or before June 1, 2027, the Department, in consultation with the Governor's Workforce Development Board, shall ensure that artificial intelligence literacy is a component of workforce preparation standards and computer science standards for kindergarten through grade 12.

2. (b) The Department shall provide professional development in artificial intelligence to educators and school leaders that:

   1. (1) Is sufficient in duration and quality to prepare the educators and school leaders:

      1. (i) For the professional use of artificial intelligence;
      2. (ii) To apply artificial intelligence to instruction; and
      3. (iii) To understand ethical considerations of artificial intelligence;

   2. (2) Provides substantive coverage of:

      1. (i) The purpose of artificial intelligence in education;
      2. (ii) Basic artificial intelligence vocabulary and concepts;
      3. (iii) How artificial intelligence works;
      4. (iv) Effective classroom use cases, including to streamline administrative tasks, to support specially designed instruction, and to provide timely feedback; and
      5. (v) Effective use, privacy, security, academic integrity, and means of avoiding overdependence; and

   3. (3) Is offered:

      1. (i) During the employee's regular workday as part of time designated for professional development; or
      2. (ii) As a course that is eligible for credit toward licensure renewal.
