1. (a) There is a Regional Advanced Manufacturing Partnership of Maryland.

2. (b)

   1. (1) The Partnership is a tax-exempt body politic and corporate.
   2. (2) The Partnership is an independent unit that the Governor may not place in a principal department of State government.

3. (c) The purposes of the Partnership are to:

   1. (1) foster the economic development of the region by:

      1. (i) promoting collaboration among government, businesses, educational institutions, and entrepreneurs and innovators; and
      2. (ii) leveraging the established advanced manufacturing investments in the region, including the facilities at Aberdeen Proving Ground; and
   2. (2) position the State as a leader in advanced manufacturing.
