When used in this chapter the following words or terms shall have, unless the context clearly indicated otherwise, the following meanings:—

1. (a) ''Code'', the Internal Revenue Code of the United States, as amended and in effect on January first, nineteen hundred and seventy-five.

2. (b) ''Commissioner'', the commissioner of revenue.
