Registration shall be completed as follows:

1. (1) Registration of firearms shall be completed at the time of import, purchase, acquisition, manufacture or assembly except as provided in 501 CMR 19.09.
2. (2) Firearms imported by a new resident shall be registered within 60 days of import, pursuant to M.G.L. c. 140, § 121B(a)(2)(i).
3. (3) Firearms imported by a licensed dealer, gunsmith, distributor, or manufacturer shall be registered within seven days, pursuant to M.G.L. c. 140, § 121B(a)(2)(ii).
4. (4) Firearms acquired by an heir or devisee through distribution of an estate may be registered within 60 days of the inheritance, pursuant to M.G.L. c. 140, § 121B(a)(2)(iii).
5. (5) Firearms manufactured or assembled as a privately-made firearm shall be registered within seven days, pursuant to M.G.L. c. 140, § 121B(a)(2)(iv).
