(1) UST systems that contain regulated substance piping shall be installed with one of, or a combination of, the following piping systems:

1. (a) Pressurized piping system;
2. (b) European suction system; or
3. (c) Non-European suction system.

(2) In addition to complying with 310 CMR 80.18(1), regulated substance piping installed in UST systems between January 1, 1989 and January 2, 2015, shall meet the following requirements:

1. (a) Regulated substance piping shall be constructed of:

   1. 1. A non-corrodible material; or
   2. 2. Cathodically protected metal, including copper if the copper is adequately protected against physical damage and is secondarily contained.
2. (b) Regulated substance piping, except European suction systems and siphon lines between tanks, shall be installed with secondary containment which may include, but is not limited to, impervious liners if installed prior to January 2, 2015 or double-walled piping.

(3) All regulated substance piping installed after January 2, 2015 shall be:

1. (a) double-walled, except European suction systems and siphon lines between tanks;
2. (b) product compatible; and

3. (c) constructed of:

   1. 1. a non-corrodible material; or
   2. 2. cathodically protected metal, including copper if the copper is adequately protected against physical damage and is secondarily contained.
