Delegation of Duties

- (1) A dentist licensed to practice dentistry in the Commonwealth pursuant to M.G.L. c. 112, § 45 may delegate certain dental duties set forth in this section to a dental auxiliary who is properly educated, trained, and qualified as specified in M.G.L. c 112, §§ 43 through 53, 61 and 234 CMR and any rule, advisory or written policy adopted by the Board related to the practice of dentistry, dental hygiene, or dental assisting.
- (2) The supervising dentist shall be responsible for all delegated acts and procedures performed by the dental auxiliary. Any dentist who delegates a procedure to an auxiliary who does not meet the requirements necessary to perform that procedure may be subject to disciplinary action by the Board.
