1. A. Recycling and Use of Materials Containing Recycled Content for Construction Projects

   1. 1. Reclaimed asphalt pavement may be:

      1. a. used in new mix,
      2. b. blended into base course,
      3. c. used as aggregate surface course on shoulders and ramps,
      4. d. delivered to a department maintenance yard for reuse, or
      5. e. reused as specified in a department contract.
   2. 2. Salvaged concrete pavement may be used in base course, asphaltic concrete, or as riprap.
   3. 3. Recycled calcium sulfate may be used as an alternate for base course, embankment, and shoulder materials.

2. B. Recycled Content of Construction Materials

   1. 1. To the extent possible, materials purchased for use in department projects, including construction of roads and bridges, shall consider the United States Environmental Protection Agency’s Comprehensive Procurement Guideline for Products Containing Recovered Materials, 40 C.F.R. Part 247.
