1. A. Effective May 1, 1987 homeless Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) recipients (including newly eligible residents of temporary shelters for the homeless) may use their SNAP benefits to purchase prepared meals served by an authorized public or nonprofit establishment that feeds homeless people.
