1. A. Whenever used in this chapter, each of the following terms has the meaning stated below.

   1. Participating Charter School—a charter school whose approved charter provides for membership in the Teachers’ Retirement System of Louisiana in accordance with R.S. 17:3997.
   2. School-Based Employee—an employee assigned to work solely for a participating charter school.
   3. School-Based Services—services performed at a participating charter school or related to a student or students enrolled in a participating charter school.
   4. System—the Teachers’ Retirement System of Louisiana
