1. A. Both raw and finished water pumping stations shall:

   1. 1. be of durable construction, fire and weather resistant;
   2. 2. have any underground structure waterproofed
   3. 3. have all floors slope to a suitable drain in such a manner that the quality of the potable water will not be endangered;
   4. 4. provide a suitable outlet for drainage without allowing discharge across the floor, including pumping glands, vacuum air relief valves, etc.

2. B. A suction well is a component(s) designed to facilitate the suction of water by way of pump excluding intake structures, ground storage tanks and clearwells. Suction wells shall:

   1. 1. be watertight;
   2. 2. have floors sloped to permit removal of water and settled solids;
   3. 3. be covered or otherwise protected against contamination; and
   4. 4. have two pumping compartments or other means to allow the suction well to be taken out of service for inspection maintenance or repair.

3. C. Equipment servicing pump stations shall:

   1. 1. provide adequate facilities or other means for servicing or removal of pumps, motors or other heavy equipment; and
   2. 2. have openings in floors, roofs or wherever else needed for removal of heavy or bulky equipment.

4. D. Stairways or ladders shall:

   1. 1. be provided between all floors, and in dry pits or compartments which must be entered; and
   2. 2. conform to the applicable requirements of the state and local building codes.
