1. A. The secretary may approve a reward of up to $2,000 to a person who submits information to the secretary resulting in a recovery under this Chapter or the Medical Assistance Programs Integrity Law.
2. B. Any award shall be granted from monies appropriated for this purpose from the Medical Assistance Programs Fraud Detection Fund for that purpose.
3. C. The approval of a reward is solely at the discretion of the secretary.
4. D. When determining a reward, the secretary shall consider the extent to which the information contributed to the investigation and recovery of monies.
5. E. The person providing the information need not have requested a reward to be considered for an award.
