LAC 40:VII.101 – Oppressive Child Labor

A. Oppressive child labor is defined as employment of children under legal minimum ages in specified occupations as listed in the following Paragraphs.
1. 1. Minimum Age 14. This is the minimum age for certain specified occupations which are allowed outside of school hours. These occupations, along with hours and time standards, are listed in LAC 40:VII.103, 201, 203, 301, and 303.
2. 2. At 16 years of age, youths may be employed in any occupation other than a nonagricultural occupation declared hazardous by the Assistant Secretary of Labor after a public hearing, or any occupation prohibited by R.S. 23:161.
