1. A. Once approval for disposal has been granted, an agency shall dispose of the agency records in a manner acceptable to the level of confidentiality the record requires.

   1. 1. If a records series contains no information considered confidential in nature, an agency may use any acceptable disposal method including:

      1. a. landfill;
      2. b. recycling;
      3. c. shredding;
      4. d. incineration;
      5. e. maceration;
      6. f. pulverization; and
      7. g. data sanitization.

   2. 2. If a records series contains information considered confidential in nature, an agency shall use any of the following disposal methods:

      1. a. shredding;
      2. b. incineration;
      3. c. maceration;
      4. d. pulverization; and
      5. e. data sanitization.
   3. 3. For guidance on data sanitization practices, agencies shall refer to the Data Sanitization Policy and Procedures, October 28, 2024, produced by the Office of Technology Services, Division of Administration, or any superseding policies produced by the same authority.
