1. A. Original microfilm should be stored in a storage room or vault that:

   1. 1. conforms to ISO 18911:2010 or any superseding standards that may be issued by a relevant authority;
   2. 2. offers protection from fire, water, steam, structural collapse, unauthorized access, and other potential hazards; and

   3. 3. has adequate temperature and humidity controls:

      1. a. Temperature should not exceed 70 degrees Fahrenheit, with temperatures of 55 degrees Fahrenheit being preferable.
      2. b. Relative humidity should not exceed 50 percent, with a maximum variation of plus/minus 5.0 percent relative humidity in a 24-hour period.
      3. c. Due to Louisiana’s high temperatures and humidity, agencies may not be able to achieve ideal storage conditions. Agencies should strive for consistency and avoid dramatic fluctuations in temperature or humidity.
