1. A. If any provision or item of these rules or the application thereof is held invalid, such invalidity shall not affect other provisions, items, or applications of these rules that can be given effect without the invalidated provision, item, or application and, to this end, the invalidated provision, item, or application of these rules is hereby declared severable.
