The provisions of this chapter shall not apply to:

1. (1) Drivers of firefighting and other emergency equipment;

2. (2) Drivers of commercial motor vehicles if those persons are:

   1. (a) Military personnel; and
   2. (b) Operating the vehicles in pursuit of a military purpose;

3. (3) Drivers of farm vehicles that are:

   1. (a) Used to transport agricultural products, farm machinery, or farm supplies to or from a farm;
   2. (b) Not used in the operations of a common or contract motor carrier;
   3. (c) Used within one hundred fifty (150) highway miles of the farmer's farm; and
   4. (d) Controlled and operated by a farmer, including operation by employees or family members; and

4. (4) Drivers of vehicles that:

   1. (a) Are designed as temporary living quarters for recreational, camping, or travel use; and
   2. (b) Operate on their own motor power or are mounted on or drawn by another vehicle.
