The powers and duties of the board as related to this act are as follows:

1. (a) To authorize all disbursements necessary to carry out the provisions of this act;
2. (b) to determine training and experience requirements for taking the examination and to supervise and administer examinations to test the knowledge of applicants for licensure;
3. (c) to license persons who apply to the board and who have qualified to practice tattooing, cosmetic tattooing or body piercing;
4. (d) to renew licenses;
5. (e) to appoint representatives to conduct or supervise the examination of applicants for licensure;
6. (f) to designate the time and place for examining applicants for licensure;
7. (g) to carry out, together with the department or separately, the periodic inspection of establishments of persons who are licensed to practice tattooing, cosmetic tattooing or body piercing;
8. (h) to issue a tattooing, cosmetic tattooing or body piercing establishment license to qualified applicants upon compliance with this act; and
9. (i) to appoint or employ subordinate employees.
