(a) Special southeast firearms deer season.
- (1) The special southeast firearms deer season dates shall be January 3, 2005 through January 31, 2005.
- (2) The bag limit for each special southeast firearms season game tag shall be four antlerless white-tailed deer using legal equipment valid during an established firearm season.
- (3) The open area for the taking of antlerless white-tailed deer during the special southeast firearms season shall be that part of Kansas bounded by a line beginning at the junction of federal highway US-75 and federal highway US-166, then north on federal highway US-75 to its junction with Montgomery County road 2600, then west on Montgomery County road 2600 to its junction with Montgomery County road 1350, then north on Montgomery County road 1350 to its junction with Montgomery County road 4000, then east on Montgomery County road 4000 to its junction with Montgomery County road 1550, then north on Montgomery County road 1550 to its junction with Montgomery County road 5000, then east on Montgomery County road 5000 to its junction with federal highway US-160, then north and west on federal highway US-160 to its junction with state highway K-99, then south on state highway K-99 to its junction with federal highway US-166, and then south and east on federal highway US-166 to its junction with federal highway US-75.
(4) The following game tags shall be authorized for the special southeast firearms deer season:
- (A) 350 resident game tags; and
- (B) 35 nonresident game tags.
(b) Permit application and provisions.
- (1) Special southeast firearms deer season applications shall be accepted in the Pratt office from the earliest date that applications are available through November 5, 2004. Applications with a postmark date of not later than November 5, 2004 shall also be accepted.
- (2) If there are leftover special southeast firearm deer season game tags after all applications meeting the deadline set in paragraph (b)(1) have been considered, a leftover application period for any remaining game tags may be designated by the secretary. If there are any leftover special southeast firearms deer season game tags, applications for these game tags shall be accepted in the Pratt office from the earliest date that leftover game tag applications are made available through January 30, 2005. Leftover applications shall be drawn and game tags issued on a daily basis. If there are any leftover special southeast season firearms deer game tags, these game tags shall be available to either a resident or nonresident.
- (c) Special southeast firearms deer season game tags shall not be valid on department lands and waters.
- (d) A person shall be allowed to apply for and to receive only one special southeast firearms season game tag that is valid only during the special southeast firearms deer season.
(e) Hunter reporting requirement.
- (1) Each hunter shall call the toll-free number provided by the department or proceed to a deer registration check station to register within 48 hours after each deer is harvested. The registration report shall include the game tag number, the carcass tag letter, and the location, time, date, age, and sex of the deer harvested.
- (2) A written questionnaire shall be provided to each holder of a special southeast firearms deer season game tag. The questionnaire shall include the number of days spent hunting during the special southeast firearms deer season and other information regarding hunting activity. Each special southeast firearms deer season game tag holder shall complete and submit the special southeast firearms deer season questionnaire no later than February 4, 2005.
- (f) This regulation shall be effective on and after May 1, 2004, and shall have no force and effect on and after March 1, 2005.
