Sec. 40. (a) The certification standard for Fire Investigator shall be as set forth in Chapter 4 of the NFPA 1033, Standard for Professional Qualifications for Fire Investigator, 2022 edition.

(b) A Fire Investigator certification expires two (2) years after:

1. (1) the date this article was adopted, for individuals to whom this certification was issued before the adoption of this article; or
2. (2) the date of the certification's issuance, for individuals not described in subsection (1).

(c) To be eligible to renew the certification described in subsection (b), an individual must comply with the:

1. (1) continuing education requirements; and
2. (2) certification renewal request submission requirements;

described in this article.
