Sec. 62. (a) Type A buses must have two (2) rub rails on each side of the body placed per manufacturer's standard.

(b) Type B, Type C, and Type D buses must have four (4) rub rails on each side of the body that must be able to resist impact and body crushing. The rub rails must extend the length of the body. The rails do not have to extend to the wheel housings or door access areas. Press-in or snap-on rub rails do not satisfy the requirements of this section.

(c) The rails for Type B, Type C, and Type D buses must be placed in the following locations:

1. (1) The window line rub rail must extend from the windshield post on the driver's side and from the service door post on the right side to the rear corner radius.

2. (2) The seat line rub rail must:

   1. (A) extend from the windshield post on the driver's side and from the service door post on the right side; and
   2. (B) wrap around the rear corner radius.
3. (3) The floor line rub rail must extend from the windshield post on the driver's side and from the service door post on the right side to the rear corner radius.
4. (4) The skirt line rub rail must extend from the windshield post on the driver's side and from the service door post on the right side to the rear corner radius.

(d) All rub rails must be:

1. (1) at least four (4) inches wide;
2. (2) made of at least 16-gauge steel; and
3. (3) corrugated or ribbed.
