Sec. 1. "Absorption field" means a:

1. (1) system of open-jointed tiles or perforated pipes laid in soil;
2. (2) series of trenches; or
3. (3) bed of sand, gravel, and soil;

into which the effluent from a septic tank or other sewage treatment devices is pumped or flows by gravity for absorption into the soil.
