Sec. 6. When horses and other equine must be officially identified under IC 15-17 and this title, they must be identified using one (1) of the following methods of identification:

1. (1) A description sufficient to identify the individual equine including, but not limited to, the following:

   1. (A) Name.
   2. (B) Age.
   3. (C) Breed.
   4. (D) Color.
   5. (E) Gender.
   6. (F) Distinctive markings.

   7. (G) Unique and permanent forms of identification when present, such as the following:

      1. (i) Brands.
      2. (ii) Tattoos.
      3. (iii) Scars.
      4. (iv) Cowlicks.
      5. (v) Blemishes.
      6. (vi) Biometric measurements.
2. (2) Electronic identification that complies with ISO 11784/11785.
3. (3) Non-ISO electronic identification injected to the equine on or before March 11, 2014.
4. (4) Digital photographs sufficient to identify the individual equine.
5. (5) For equines being commercially transported to slaughter, a device or method authorized by 9 CFR 88.4.
6. (6) Any other official identification number, device, or method that is approved by the state veterinarian to facilitate disease control.
