Sec. 2. The definitions in IC 15-17-2 and the following definitions apply throughout this rule:

1. (1) "Board" means the Indiana state board of animal health appointed under IC 15-17-3.

2. (2) "Designated person" means a person designated by the state veterinarian, by virtue of their:

   1. (A) education;
   2. (B) training;
   3. (C) licensing;
   4. (D) experience; or
   5. (E) position;
3. as qualified to conduct specific activities under this rule.

4. (3) "Game birds" means domesticated fowl such as:

   1. (A) pheasants;
   2. (B) partridge;
   3. (C) quail;
   4. (D) grouse; and
   5. (E) guineas;
5. but not doves and pigeons.
6. (4) "Livestock" has the meaning set forth in IC 15-17-2-47.

7. (5) "Poultry" means domesticated fowl, including the following:

   1. (A) Chickens.
   2. (B) Turkeys.
   3. (C) Ostriches.
   4. (D) Emus.
   5. (E) Rheas.
   6. (F) Cassowaries.
   7. (G) Waterfowl.
   8. (H) Game birds.
8. The term does not include doves and pigeons.
9. (6) "Premises" means an identifiable physical location that represents a unique and describable geographic entity where activity affecting the health or traceability of animals may occur.
10. (7) "Premises identification number" means a nationally unique number assigned by the state veterinarian to a livestock production unit that is, in the judgment of the state veterinarian, a geographically distinct location from other premises.
11. (8) "State veterinarian" means the state veterinarian appointed by the board under IC 15-17-4 and any authorized agents.
12. (9) "USDA" means the United States Department of Agriculture.
13. (10) "Waterfowl" means domesticated fowl that normally swim, such as ducks and geese.
