Sec. 24. The National Electrical Code, 2017, NFPA 70* requirements for Class I, Group D, Division 1 locations govern electrical systems and components used in wet wells or in enclosed or partially-enclosed areas where concentrations of flammable gases or vapors may be present. The components may include equipment such as motors, lights, cables, conduits, switch boxes, and control circuits, and all must comply with the following:

1. (1) Be protected against corrosive conditions.
2. (2) Each flexible cable must be provided with a watertight seal and separate strain relief.
3. (3) The main power feed to all lift stations must be equipped with a fused disconnect switch located aboveground.
4. (4) The equipment, if not housed, must meet the requirements of NEMA 3R or 4, in accordance with NEMA 250-2014, Enclosures for Electrical Equipment (1,000 Volts Maximum)**.
