Sec. 3. (a) Written policy, procedure, and practice provide that the facility prevents or limits the onset and spread of fire and toxic smoke through the following methods:

1. (1) Furnishings and interior finish materials comply with recognized fire safety performance requirements.

2. (2) Trash and refuse receptacles made of noncombustible material are:

   1. (A) provided at accessible locations throughout the facility; and
   2. (B) emptied at least daily.

3. (3) All flammable items are properly:

   1. (A) controlled;
   2. (B) handled;
   3. (C) stored; and
   4. (D) disposed of.
4. (4) Approved self-closing metal containers are provided for flammable liquids and for rags used with flammable liquids.

(b) This is a mandatory standard.
