1. (a) The department shall:

   1. (1) supervise and regulate the administration of this chapter;
   2. (2) fix just and reasonable rates, fares, and charges;
   3. (3) adopt just and reasonable classifications and rules; and

   4. (4) regulate and supervise the schedules, service, safety, methods, and hours of operation;

      of every motor carrier subject to this chapter.

2. (b) The department may require the filing of annual and other reports and the submission of all records and information as is reasonably necessary.
