1. (a) The commission consists of the following seventeen (17) members:

   1. (1) Seven (7) members who represent an organization whose mission involves education, culture, women's history, or civic engagement, appointed by the governor.
   2. (2) One (1) member of the house of representatives, appointed by the speaker of the house of representatives.
   3. (3) One (1) member of the house of representatives, appointed by the minority leader of the house of representatives.
   4. (4) One (1) member of the senate, appointed by the president pro tempore of the senate.
   5. (5) One (1) member of the senate, appointed by the minority leader of the senate.
   6. (6) The lieutenant governor or the lieutenant governor's designee.
   7. (7) The chief justice of Indiana or the chief justice's designee.
   8. (8) The chairperson of the Indiana commission for women or the chairperson's designee.
   9. (9) The secretary of education or the secretary's designee.
   10. (10) The chief executive officer of the Indiana state museum and historic sites corporation or the chief executive officer's designee.
   11. (11) The director of the Indiana archives and records administration or the director's designee.
2. (b) A legislative member of the commission appointed under subsection (a)(2) through (a)(5) is a nonvoting advisory member.
