1. (a) As used in this chapter, "major equipment item" refers to any item that a school corporation considers:

   1. (1) a significant equipment purchase; and
   2. (2) reasonably likely to be purchased by several school corporations.

2. (b) The term does not include the following:

   1. (1) Curricular materials (as defined in IC 20-18-2-2.7 ).
   2. (2) A special purpose bus (as defined in IC 20-27-2-10 ).
   3. (3) A school bus (as defined in IC 20-27-2-8 ).
