1. (a) A county may mow or maintain any grass or vegetation in a right-of-way that is:

   1. (1) owned by the state; and

   2. (2) located in the county;

      if the county obtains a permit from the office of the Indiana department of transportation district in which the county is located.

2. (b) A county may not seek reimbursement from the state for the costs of any mowing or maintenance by the county under subsection (a).
