1. (a) The appointing authority shall adopt standards for firefighters establishing a physical agility test that:

   1. (1) does not discriminate on the basis of sex;
   2. (2) reflects the essential functions of the job; and

   3. (3) at a minimum includes testing the following:

      1. (A) Fear of heights (acrophobia).
      2. (B) Fear of confinement (claustrophobia).
      3. (C) Muscular strength.
      4. (D) Muscular endurance.
      5. (E) Cardiovascular endurance.
      6. (F) Musculoskeletal flexibility.
2. (b) The appointing authority shall also adopt standards for firefighters establishing a general aptitude test.
3. (c) The standards required by this section must be presented to the board of firefighting personnel standards and education established by IC 22-12-3-1 for review.
