As used in this chapter, "authorized agency" means the following:

1. (1) The state fire marshal or a fire department acting under IC 36-8-17 .
2. (2) The superintendent of the state police.
3. (3) The prosecuting attorney responsible for prosecutions in the county where damage to property occurs.
4. (4) The attorney general.
5. (5) An officer of a unit of local government whose duties include the investigation of arson where damage to property occurs.
