1. (a) An employment certificate is not required for a minor who is at least fourteen (14) years of age but less than eighteen (18) years of age to:

   1. (1) perform:

      1. (A) farm labor; or
      2. (B) domestic service; or

   2. (2) act as a:

      1. (A) caddie for a person playing the game of golf; or
      2. (B) newspaper carrier.

2. (b) An employment certificate is not required for a minor who is:

   1. (1) at least twelve (12) years of age but less than eighteen (18) years of age; and
   2. (2) employed or works as a youth athletic program referee, umpire, or official under section 36 of this chapter.
3. (c) An exemption under subsection (a) or (b) applies only when a minor is engaged in an occupation listed in this section during the hours when the minor is not required to be in school.

4. (d) An employment certificate is not required for a minor less than eighteen (18) years of age who:

   1. (1) works as an actor or performer if the provisions of section 37 of this chapter are met; or
   2. (2) has graduated from high school.

5. (e) An employment certificate is not required for a minor less than eighteen (18) years of age, who would otherwise be required to obtain an employment certificate under this chapter if the minor is:

   1. (1) not a resident of Indiana;
   2. (2) a resident of Indiana but attends a nonpublic school that employs less than one (1) employee; or
   3. (3) a resident of Indiana but is enrolled in a career and technical education program as approved by the Indiana state board of education under IC 20-32-4-1.5 (g).
