As used in this chapter, "qualifying program" refers to one (1) of the following fields of study at the undergraduate, graduate, doctoral, or postdoctoral level:

1. (1) Chemical engineering.
2. (2) Electrical engineering.
3. (3) Industrial engineering.
4. (4) Mechanical engineering.
5. (5) Artificial intelligence.
6. (6) Computer science.
7. (7) Microbiology.
8. (8) Virology.
9. (9) A field of study designated by the commissioner for higher education under section 11 of this chapter.
