1. (a) Notwithstanding any other law, the board may designate a committee of the board, which may consist of employees or officers of the board, to open or tabulate bids at a date, time, and place fixed by advertisement for:

   1. (1) the purchase of:

      1. (A) supplies;
      2. (B) material;
      3. (C) equipment; or
      4. (D) land;
   2. (2) the building, enlargement, or alteration of any school building; or
   3. (3) any other purpose.

2. (b) The committee of the board shall open and tabulate each bid that is presented to the committee. The bids shall be:

   1. (1) read and tabulated publicly;
   2. (2) immediately entered in the record of the board; and
   3. (3) reported to the board at the board's next meeting.

3. (c) A bid shall be accepted or rejected by the committee of the board under this section. The bid shall be accepted or rejected by the board in an official board meeting.
