As used in this chapter, "research" means a study to advance the:

1. (1) marketability;
2. (2) production;
3. (3) product development;
4. (4) quality; or

5. (5) functional or nutritional value;

   of corn or corn products, including a research activity designed to identify and analyze barriers to domestic and foreign sales of corn or corn products.
