As used in this chapter, "board of public works" refers to the following:

1. (1) The board of public works and safety established in a city under IC 36 .

2. (2) The board of public works in a city that has established a separate board of public works and a separate board of public safety under IC 36 .

   The term includes the department of public works in a city in which a department of public works has been established under IC 36 .
