1. (a) As used in section 5 of this chapter, "member" refers to the following:

   1. (1) A member of the Indiana national guard.
   2. (2) A member of a reserve component.
   3. (3) A member of the retired personnel of the naval, air, or ground forces of the United States.

2. (b) The term includes a qualified member.
