Seat Belts, Driver's and Passengers'

Effective May 25, 200731 Ill. Reg. 8238AUTHORITY: Implementing Article VIII of Chapter 12 of the Illinois Vehicle Code [625 ILCS 5/Ch. 12, Art. VIII] and Section 14-3(m) of the Criminal Code of 1961 [720 ILCS 5/14-3(m)] and authorized by Section 12-812 of the Illinois Vehicle Code [625 ILCS 5/12-812].DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION

a) See the FMVSS for requirements (49 CFR 571.209 and 210).
b) The driver's seat belt assembly shall be arranged so that all portions of the assembly remain above the floor when not in use.
c) If a retractor or retractors are installed, they shall be the emergency locking type.
d) The driver's seat must be equipped with a lap belt/shoulder harness design.
