1. a) Backtags shall only be removed when an animal is blood tested or is slaughtered and a Market Cattle Identification sample collected.
2. b) Identification tags shall be removed only when an animal is slaughtered and a Market Cattle Identification sample collected.

No person shall remove identification tags, numbers, brands, ear tags, microchips, or market cattle identification program backtags from livestock except:
