1. a) To inspect such laboratories in scheduled on-site visits and unannounced on-site visits or remote audits in emergency circumstances. Remote audits will be followed up with an on-site visit at a later date;
2. b) To require the laboratory to provide information regarding the technical operation of the laboratory relevant to certification;
3. c) To inspect quality assurance records and any other records pertinent to certification;
4. d) To observe and question analysts at work on parameters or methods for which certification is sought; and
5. e) To grant or deny certification based upon the completion of the evaluation process.

Certification officers shall have all of the following authority with regard to environmental laboratories:
