a) The Alzheimer's Disease Management Center shall treat behavioral problems and mood disorders using nonpharmacologic approaches such as:

1. 1) environmental modification;
2. 2) task simplification; and
3. 3) other appropriate activities. (Section 35(5) of the Act)

d) The facility shall provide access to appropriate emergency and specialty medical services. A care manager shall be designated for each resident. A care manager may serve one or more residents. The provision of services for each resident shall be organized through the care manager, who shall:

1. 1) Assume responsibility for implementation of the care plan;
2. 2) Assist the resident in becoming oriented to his/her program;
3. 3) Enable the program to proceed in an orderly, purposeful, and goal-oriented manner;
4. 4) Promote the program's responsiveness to the needs and preferences of the resident;
5. 5) Participate consistently in care team conferences concerning the resident; and
6. 6) Maintain communication with family members, resident representative (if designated), and funding source of the resident.

f) The facility shall provide other services as necessary to implement and support the resident's comprehensive care plan and overall needs, including provisions for:

1. 1) Case management;
2. 2) Fostering resident independence;
3. 3) Protection of resident rights, privacy and dignity; and
4. 4) Assisting the resident and resident's representative in understanding and adjusting to the resident's current condition, prognosis and future needs.
