- a) Each hospital shall establish and operate a designated blood donor program that allows a recipient of blood to designate a donor of their choice for purpose of receiving red blood cells. Policies and procedures which are followed in the operation of the program must be approved and reviewed at least annually by the medical staff or its designated subcommittee. The program must be consistent with the requirements of this Section.
- b) The program shall allow designated blood donations that meet the requirements of Section 7-109 of the Illinois Clinical Laboratory and Blood Bank Act.
- c) The hospital shall insure that designated blood donations are properly labeled, stored, screened, and reserved for the designated recipient as required by Section 7-109 of the Illinois Clinical Laboratory and Blood Bank Act.
