  2. 2) The owner or operator must comply with the emission limitation set forth in subsection (e)(1) on a 30-operating day rolling average basis. For purposes of this Subpart, an operating day is a calendar day in which any emission unit addressed in subsection (e)(1) combusts any fuel;
  3. 3) Within 24 hours after the end of each averaging period, the owner or operator must use the following equation to determine the combined SO₂ emission rate of the emission units addressed in subsection (e)(1) for each averaging period, which concludes at the end of each operating day. The SO₂ emission rate must not exceed the limitation set forth in subsection (e)(1):

    E_avg = SO₂ emission rate for the averaging period, in lb/hr.
    E_h = SO₂ emission rate for stack operating hour "h" in the averaging period. For purposes of this Subpart, a stack operating hour is a clock hour in which valid data is obtained, and in which gases flow through the monitored stack or duct for the emission units addressed in subsection (e)(1) (either for part of the hour or for the entire hour) while at least one of the units is combusting fuel.
    n = Number of stack operating hours in the averaging period in which valid data is obtained.
  4. 4) The SO₂ emission rate for the emission units addressed in subsection (e)(1) must not exceed 6,000 lb/hr in more than 5% of the stack operating hours ("n" in the equation in subsection (e)(3)) in any averaging period.
